It was splashed all over tabloids around Asia recently – scandalous images stolen from a dashing young celebrity’s laptop when it was sent for repairs.
Typical trashy tabloid news? Maybe – but there are important lessons for businesses in this. Had the celebrity (who went into hiding for a couple of weeks, incidentally) protected the sensitive information in his laptop, he might not need to be holed up halfway across the Pacific dodging the paparazzi.
Likewise, businesses need to put in place adequate protection for the confidential information stored in their computers if they do not wish to become fodder for bad news
